I am currently in Italy for my uncle's wedding (sorry for the lack of posts) and I have noticed a lot about how Italian men wear their clothes. I spent a week in Milan with a friend and everyone was wearing button up shirts, most with their initials monogramed on the chest. Also, almost all the men were wearing lightweight pants, because it was very hummid, that were hemmed very short with no socks, showing some ankle. I had never been big on this look before but after seeing how everyone was wearing their pants the first thing I'm going to do when I get home is take all my pants and some of my jeans to the tailor and have them all shortened.

Lapel Pin

Lanvin Lapel Pin $99

I came across this a while back and wasn't crazy about it, but the other night I was watching Sports Center and D. Wade was doing a post-game interview and was sporting this carnation lapel pin from Lanvin and it looked really good. He wore it with a white dress shirt and a solid black button up cardigan. It was the perfect amount of detail to a simple and very well put together outfit.

Summer Shoe option

Band of Outsiders - 3 Eye Boat Shoe  $210

I know the boat shoe is nothing new, but as we approach summer its time to shed those heavy boots/lace-ups and slip into something lighter. Like Tom Ford says, a man should never wear sandals unless at the beach and this modern take on the boat shoe by Band of Outsiders is a perfect answer for your summer footwear needs.

Brooks Brothers $198

These velvet slippers from brooks are legit. You can wear them with a dinner jacket, a tux, or a a suit. I really like this look, and if you can pull them off, go for it. Try wearing them with a pair of bright socks, like pink of electric blue.

Collar Stays

A vary small but important accessory that is essential in your wardrobe is the collar stays. I hate it when I wear a dress shirt and the collar falls flat. To prevent this from happening, invest in some collar stays. There are two kinds: the metal ones and the plastic ones. Personally, I don't like the metal ones because they are too obvious. The plastic ones keep your collar nice and stiff and are not noticeable. Pick up a set soon, but remember to take them out of your shirts before your dry clean. $9.00

The White Shirt

A wardrobe consists of many different pieces, but the single most important one is a white dress shirt. It can be dressed up, dressed down, and worn with absolutely everything. A man should have more white shirts than anything else.

Trend Report: Bracelets

Lately I have seen an increase in men wearing bracelets. I personally have a Tod's bracelet that I got at Barneys that I wear with my watch. It adds just a touch of style without over doing it. Here are a few options.

Now that we are fast on our way to summer, its time to bust out your luggage for those warm weather vacations. If you don't have any quality pieces, your in luck. Tumi is running a 40% special. I picked this piece up a few months back and I love it. It is very light, but still very durable. Also, it has four wheels, so you can easily push/pull it. Travel in style.

Suit Supply

It is so easy to get caught up in thinking that you must spend at least a thousand dollars for a quality suit. I recently came across a website that offers extremely sharp looking suits at great prices. Whether you are looking for a pinstripe wool suit to a linen summer piece, this is your one stop shop. They have three price points: $383, $451, and $614. They also offer great looking shirts for $99. Check it out.

HI/LOW The Evening Jacket

The evening jacket is something that I believe every man should have in their wardrobe, whether its a traditional blazer or a tux jacket. Here are a few options.

Use Your Tailor

If I have learned anything over the years about clothes its not what you wear, but rather how you wear it. Proportions play a large roll in your wardrobe and its important to take this into account when buying new clothes. Almost everything you buy off the rack could be tailored to fit you better. Obviously this is somewhat unrealistic, but it is important to use your tailor consistently, and if you don't have one, find a good one. I have gone to the same lady for a few years and every time I bring in something new she knows how I like my clothes to fit. I almost always get my dress shirts/sport shirts altered, which usually consists of shortening the sleeves and bring in the width of the shirt. I also sometimes make minor changes, such as tapering sleeves of shirts/sweaters or my jeans. By investing the extra time and money, you can make your clothes look like they are made just for you.

Das Boot J shoes $112 Diesel $250

A Swedish friend of mine was wearing the coolest boots the other day so I searched the Internet and came across these two pairs. I have never been a huge boot fan but I think I am starting to reconsider.

Cedar $9.99

Many people do not realize that insects destroy clothes. The best way to stop this from happening is investing in cedar hangers. Cedar wood repels insects that eat away at clothing, as well as making your closet look very organized and clean. No more metal or plastic hangers. They not only ruin your clothes but they don't stop bugs from doing it either. Protect your investment.

Clay $23

This is a deep pore cleansing clay that my cousin turned me onto a few years ago. If your like me, your face takes a beating: Sun, salt, sunscreen, sweat. This will completely degrease your face, leaving you feeling very clean. They recommend using two to three times a week but I find that too much. I use it once a week.
