Italy

I am currently in Italy for my uncle's wedding (sorry for the lack of posts) and I have noticed a lot about how Italian men wear their clothes. I spent a week in Milan with a friend and everyone was wearing button up shirts, most with their initials monogramed on the chest. Also, almost all the men were wearing lightweight pants, because it was very hummid, that were hemmed very short with no socks, showing some ankle. I had never been big on this look before but after seeing how everyone was wearing their pants the first thing I'm going to do when I get home is take all my pants and some of my jeans to the tailor and have them all shortened.

Lapel Pin

Lanvin Lapel Pin $99

I came across this a while back and wasn't crazy about it, but the other night I was watching Sports Center and D. Wade was doing a post-game interview and was sporting this carnation lapel pin from Lanvin and it looked really good. He wore it with a white dress shirt and a solid black button up cardigan. It was the perfect amount of detail to a simple and very well put together outfit.

Summer Shoe option

Band of Outsiders - 3 Eye Boat Shoe  $210

I know the boat shoe is nothing new, but as we approach summer its time to shed those heavy boots/lace-ups and slip into something lighter. Like Tom Ford says, a man should never wear sandals unless at the beach and this modern take on the boat shoe by Band of Outsiders is a perfect answer for your summer footwear needs.

Slipper

Brooks Brothers $198

These velvet slippers from brooks are legit. You can wear them with a dinner jacket, a tux, or a a suit. I really like this look, and if you can pull them off, go for it. Try wearing them with a pair of bright socks, like pink of electric blue.

Collar Stays

A vary small but important accessory that is essential in your wardrobe is the collar stays. I hate it when I wear a dress shirt and the collar falls flat. To prevent this from happening, invest in some collar stays. There are two kinds: the metal ones and the plastic ones. Personally, I don't like the metal ones because they are too obvious. The plastic ones keep your collar nice and stiff and are not noticeable. Pick up a set soon, but remember to take them out of your shirts before your dry clean.
